◦ The Drum Stick ◦

These types of drum sticks are often called a 'beater' or 'striker', but Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh had a profound impact on my life and so I much prefer his name for these sort of instruments, 'inviter'. He would suggest we invite the bell, rather than 'strike' it and invite us to look deeply at the nature of words.
 
It is with this and much else in mind that I bring the masculine counterpart to the drum, its inviter, into the world. I offer these separately from the drums because not everyone finds value in them being made this way - and that's ok. All my drums come with a basic inviter made specifically for the drum, the difference here is what goes into its creation. This option is for those wanting their inviter to also be energetically active and infused with spirit, an equal counterpart to the drum. 
 
This started for me when I made my first drum. We learned about the drum and all her elements in such a beautiful and profound way, then we were asked to choose a 'beater' from a pile on the table. When I asked if we might know anything about our drum stick, I received: "I dunno, it's probably a bit of fake leather and a stick from Thailand or something"...As soon as I got home I began connecting, learning, remaking and so, many years later here we are. 
 
These are unique and intentional medicine pieces in their own right. The masculine element is also made in ceremony, to meet and invite the feminine of the drum to sound, in balance...in ayni.
